About me

I’m a chill kiwi bloke who loves music. I gave up my corporate job in 2022 to make being a wedding DJ my full time career.

I’m someone who is organised, mature and experienced enough to make sure everything runs smoothly for the formal side of a wedding. The formal stuff is important, I need to have your correct entrance songs playing at the right time, a microphone on hand for speeches and be setting the right mood with the music while people are mingling and eating.

I’m also someone who is fun and loose enough to create a loud dancefloor at the end of the night where you and your guests can get crazy! Once all the formal things are done (and you've had a couple of drinks) it's time to party!

On this website I try to give you as much information about me and the general wedding process to help you make a decision on entertainment at your wedding. All this stuff can be pretty overwhelming so I’ve tried to make it as simple as possible – I have my prices shown upfront and I don’t have too much marketing bullshit 😊

I was born in Nelson and moved to Christchurch as a teenager to study accounting. After the earthquakes I made my way to Melbourne where I worked as a chartered accountant for around 10 years. My housemate was a techno DJ and I loved watching him do his thing, so I eventually decided to give it a go myself. I practiced at home for a while, entered a DJ competition and was recruited and trained by an entertainment company to perform at weddings in Melbourne. I loved this new job because I was able to be a part of a couple's special day and was paid to play good music and party with people!
I decided to give up the spreadsheets and made wedding DJing my full-time job for two years. From 2022 to early 2024 I performed at over 100 weddings in Melbourne. Then in March 2024 I moved home to Christchurch to be closer to family. I started my own DJ business and here we are!

This business is just me - I won’t ever have any other DJs working for me. I do this because I love it, not to build a DJ empire and be a millionaire. I only have a limited number of bookings each year so I can focus on creating the best day for you.

If you have any questions then please give me a call on 021 086 59675. I am happy to chat on the phone anytime about how the wedding process works. I am also always keen to catch up in person as well to share a coffee or beer!

Cheers!
Sam
